Overview
A Kepcor 2X Teleconverter in Praktica Bayonet (PB) mount, designed for use with Praktica B‑series 35mm SLR cameras and PB‑mount lenses. This is the later bayonet‑fit system introduced by Praktica in the late 1970s, not the earlier M42 screw mount.
This example is in Very Good condition, fully tested on a PB‑mount body and ready for use.
Key Features
- 2× magnification for extended telephoto reach
- Praktica PB bayonet mount (not M42)
- Compatible with Praktica B‑series lenses and bodies
- Solid metal construction typical of third‑party converters of the era
- Maintains aperture coupling for correct metering on PB bodies
- Compact, lightweight accessory for extending focal length affordably
Condition
Very Good Condition
- Light cosmetic wear consistent with normal use
- Bayonet mounts clean, secure, and lock positively
- Optics show light internal dust only (typical for age; no practical impact)
- No fungus, haze, separation, or scratches observed
- Aperture coupling mechanism operates smoothly
- Fully tested on a PB‑mount body and functioning correctly
Compatibility
Fully compatible with:
- Praktica B‑series 35mm SLR cameras (B100, B200, BC1, BCX, BX20, BX20s, etc.)
- Praktica PB‑mount lenses including Pentacon, Prakticar, and third‑party PB‑fit lenses
Note: As with all 2× converters, expect a two‑stop light loss and some reduction in contrast depending on the lens used.
Included
- Kepcor 2X Teleconverter – Praktica PB Mount
- Front and rear caps
Collector Notes
PB‑mount accessories are increasingly sought after due to the relative scarcity of later Praktica B‑series equipment compared with the earlier M42 era. Kepcor converters are less common than Vivitar or Jessop equivalents, making this a useful and interesting addition for Praktica PB collectors or film shooters exploring longer focal lengths.
