Description
The Leica IIIf Red Dial (RD) is a classic 35mm coupled rangefinder camera produced in Wetzlar, Germany by Ernst Leitz GmbH. Manufactured in 1952 according to its serial number 614515. As the quintessential post-war Barnack Leica model, the "Red Dial" variant features red flash synchronization numbers surrounding the main shutter speed dial and refined internal shutter geometry running up to 1/1000s. Includes dual eyepieces for rangefinder focusing and 50mm composition, diopter adjustment lever, dual fast/slow shutter speed dials, integrated flash sync contacts, and Leica Thread Mount (LTM / M39) lens compatibility. Complete with internal film spool and removable chrome baseplate.
Condition
Overall Condition: Excellent
Cosmetically in very clean, well-preserved condition with minimal handling wear across the top plate and baseplate. The vulcanite body covering is completely intact across the chassis without cracking or missing pieces. Rangefinder and viewfinder optics are clear with good double-image patch contrast. Fully tested and operational: mechanical focal plane shutter curtain is intact, firing accurately across both fast and slow speed dials (1s to 1/1000s plus B), film advance knob winds smoothly, diopter lever adjusts correctly, and baseplate lock secures firmly. Serial number 614515. Manufactured in 1952. Fully tested and working.
