Description

The Asahi Pentax H2 (known as the Pentax S2 in markets outside North America) is an early, iconic 35mm manual mechanical SLR camera body manufactured by Asahi Optical Co. in 1959. Featuring a universal M42 threaded screw mount, an integrated pentaprism viewfinder, and a fully mechanical focal-plane shutter with speeds from 1 s to 1/500 s plus Bulb. Paired with a vintage Asahi Auto-Takumar 55mm f/2 prime lens featuring a distinctive semi-automatic aperture cocking lever mechanism. Offered strictly for spares, repairs, or restoration due to mechanical and optical defects.

The camera body shows moderate cosmetic age and handling wear, including minor scuffs on the chrome top and bottom plates. Textured leatherette body covering is complete and intact. Optical elements of the Auto-Takumar 55mm f/2 lens contain minor internal fungus. Mechanically, the reflex mirror sticks intermittently during cycle, and the film winder return spring is weak, requiring the advance lever to be pushed back manually.
