Description
The Auto Optomax 35mm f/2.8 is a classic vintage manual focus wide-angle prime lens featuring a universal M42 threaded screw mount. Offering a versatile 35mm focal length, it provides a natural, wide field of view ideal for street photography, environmental portraits, and everyday documentary shooting. Designed for 35mm film SLRs equipped with M42 screw mounts (such as Asahi Pentax Spotmatic, Praktica, Mamiya/Sekor, and Zenit) and easily adapted to modern mirrorless or digital SLR systems (Sony E, Fujifilm X, Micro Four Thirds, Canon EF) via simple M42 adapter rings. Features robust all-metal barrel construction, auto-diaphragm aperture linkage pin, textured rubber focus grip, and a 55mm front filter thread. Made in Japan. Serial number 361556. Complete with front clip-on lens cap and rear M42 screw cap.
Condition
Overall Condition: Very Good
Optics are clear, fungus-free, and haze-free with light internal dust typical for vintage glass. The black metal barrel finish is clean overall, showing light signs of age and minor paint wear around the front filter rim and aperture ring edges. M42 screw threads are intact and thread smoothly onto mounts/adapters. Focus ring turns evenly across the distance scale, aperture ring clicks firmly at each stop, and aperture blades are oil-free and close snappily when the rear auto-pin is depressed. Serial number 361556. Fully tested and working.
