Description
The Corfield 66 is a rare and ambitious 6×6 medium format single-lens reflex camera, introduced in 1961 by K.G. Corfield Ltd., Wolverhampton. Designed to rival the likes of the Hasselblad 500C, it featured a focal plane shutter, reflex viewing, and a unique breech-lock lens mount. Only fewer than 300 units were produced, making it one of the most elusive British cameras of the post-war era.
It came equipped with a Lumax 95mm f/3.5 lens, the only lens ever made for the system, and accepted 120 roll film via a RADA-style film back. The camera offered reflex viewing through the taking lens, a full-size ground glass focusing screen, and a magnifier in the hood — all housed in a robust metal body with leatherette covering.
Condition
Fair vintage condition. Shutter fires across all speeds (1/10–1/500 + B). The lens has heavy fungus to the front. Bellows light-tight. Mirror mechanism responsive but slow to return. Leatherette shows minor age-related wear, peeling in places. Film back functional.
