Manufactured from the late 1940s through the 1980s by LZOS and KMZ, the Jupiter-12 is a direct descendant of the prewar Zeiss Biogon. Its 6-element, 4-group design delivers high central sharpness and distinctive edge falloff, especially wide open. The lens features a clickless aperture ring and a 40.5mm filter thread. Due to its protruding rear element, it is not compatible with many digital cameras or certain film bodies (e.g. Bessa rangefinders) without risk of damage. Always mount with focus set to infinity.
