Description
The Kodak Retina II is a premium 35mm folding rangefinder camera, produced by Kodak AG in Stuttgart, Germany between 1936–1950, across several variants (Types 122, 142, 011, and 014). Designed by Dr. August Nagel, it represents the pinnacle of pre-Retina III engineering — compact, precise, and beautifully finished.
This model is fitted with the Schneider-Kreuznach Retina-Xenon 5cm f/2.0 lens, a fast 6-element design known for its sharpness and creamy bokeh. Paired with a Compur-Rapid shutter offering speeds from 1s to 1/500s + B, it delivers exceptional results for street and travel photography. The camera features a coupled rangefinder, manual film advance, and a rigid lens bed that folds into the body for portability.
Condition
Good vintage condition. Shutter fires across all speeds. Rangefinder patch bright and aligned. Bellows light-tight. Lens optics mostly clean, some surface marks, possibly cleaning marks noticable. Body shows minor wear consistent with age. Film advance smooth.
