Description:

Nikon AF Nikkor 70–300mm f/4–5.6G telephoto zoom lens in very good condition, compatible with Nikon F-mount film and FX-format digital SLRs. Offers a broad zoom range from portrait to wildlife, with autofocus support on bodies with built-in AF motor. Lightweight and compact, this lens is ideal for travel, sports, and outdoor photography. Optically very good, maybe some very minor dust and marks.

Introduced in 2000, this “G” variant omits the aperture ring, making it best suited for modern Nikon bodies that control aperture electronically. It features a front-group focusing system, 9-blade diaphragm, and a push-pull zoom design. While it lacks VR (vibration reduction), it performs well when stopped down and used with a tripod or good technique.

Collector Notes:

This lens is a solid performer for its price—especially on Nikon bodies with built-in AF motors like the D90, D7000, D610, or F100. It’s soft wide open at the long end but sharpens up nicely at f/8–f/11. The lack of VR means handheld shooting at 300mm requires care, but it’s a great option for daylight wildlife, aviation, or candid portraits. A popular choice for film shooters and digital users alike.
