Description

The Nikon Nikkor 50mm f/1.8 AI is a legendary manual focus standard prime lens featuring a native Nikon AI (Auto Indexing) F bayonet mount. With a fast f/1.8 maximum aperture, it excels in low-light conditions and provides smooth, natural background rendering. Fully compatible with classic Nikon 35mm film SLRs (FM, FE, F2, F3) as well as modern Nikon digital SLRs featuring AI metering coupling ridges (D7000 series, D300, D700, D800, D750, D850, Df) and mirrorless bodies via FTZ adapters. Built with a compact, long-nose all-metal barrel, smooth rubberized focus ring, depth-of-field scale, metering prongs ("rabbit ears"), and standard 52mm front filter thread. Serial number 2064963. Complete with front Nikon clip-on lens cap and rear Nikon F mount cap.

Collector's Notes

The early long-nose Nikkor 50mm f/1.8 AI is widely considered by photographers to be one of the sharpest standard 50mm lenses Nikon ever produced, often praised for outperforming later pancake variants in build quality and focus throw. Tested, clean AI-era examples with unblemished glass remain highly sought after by film shooters and modern digital adaptors seeking classic rendering.
