Description

The Asahi Pentax K2 is the flagship model of the original 1975 Pentax K-series 35mm film SLRs. Engineered as a professional-tier body, it features an electronically controlled vertical-travel metal focal-plane shutter capable of speeds from 8 s to 1/1000 s plus Bulb, aperture-priority auto-exposure, and manual mode. Uniquely equipped with ISO/ASA speeds adjustable directly around the lens mount ring (8–6400 ASA), exposure compensation switch (1/4x to 4x), depth-of-field preview lever, self-timer, and a battery check light. Paired with the compact SMC Pentax-M 50mm f/2 prime lens, featuring Asahi's Super Multi-Coating (SMC) for sharp resolution and rich contrast. Includes an original rubber viewfinder eyecup and a front clip-on lens cap.

Overall Condition: Very Good

The black enamel body finish shows classic, attractive light brassing along the top prism edges and bottom plate, consistent with normal careful handling. Leatherette body covering is tight and intact throughout. Viewfinder is bright with intact rubber eyecup. Film chamber, pressure plate, and metal shutter blades are clean. SMC Pentax-M 50mm f/2 lens optics are clear and fungus/haze free with minor internal dust. Aperture ring clicks crisply, lens focus ring turns smoothly, and shutter fires accurately across manual speeds and aperture-priority modes. Serial numbers: Body 7094145, Lens 8528947.
