Tokina AT-X 400mm f/5.6 SD AF Lens – Minolta/Sony A Mount – Telephoto Prime – Caps
Tokina AT-X 400mm f/5.6 SD autofocus telephoto lens for Minolta/Sony A mount, in good condition with internal haze. This full-frame prime features internal rear focusing, a built-in retractable hood, and a solid metal barrel. Autofocus is driven by the camera body’s motor (screw-drive), and the lens is compatible with Sony Alpha DSLRs and SLTs that support A-mount lenses.
Optics show noticeable haze, visible under strong light. This may reduce contrast or introduce flare in certain lighting conditions. No fungus or separation observed. Focus ring is smooth, aperture blades are snappy, and the lens includes a tripod collar. SD (Super Low Dispersion) glass helps reduce chromatic aberration and improve sharpness.

Collector Notes:
This lens was part of Tokina’s AT-X SD series, offering solid build quality and respectable optical performance at a fraction of OEM prices. The tripod collar and internal focus make it ideal for wildlife and sports. While not stabilized, it pairs well with Sony SLT bodies that offer in-body stabilization. SD glass improves contrast and reduces fringing, especially at f/8. A great alternative to Minolta’s 400mm primes — and a solid candidate for cleaning or display.
