Description

The Voigtländer Bessa RF is a premium 6×9 medium format folding camera with a coupled rangefinder, produced in Braunschweig, Germany between 1936–1951. It shoots eight exposures per roll of 120 film, with an internal mask for 6×4.5 format, offering flexibility for both portrait and landscape work.

This version is fitted with the Skopar 105mm f/3.5 lens, a coated 4-element Tessar-type design known for its crisp rendering and balanced contrast. Paired with a Compur-Rapid shutter offering speeds from 1s to 1/400s + B & T, it delivers reliable performance and classic image quality. Focusing is achieved via a top-plate knob linked to the rangefinder — a refined and elegant mechanism unique to this model.

The Bessa RF is often compared to the Zeiss Super Ikonta, and its build quality, lens performance, and folding design make it a standout among German folders of the era.

Condition

Very good vintage condition. Skopar lens optics clean — no haze, fungus, or scratches. Shutter fires across all speeds. Rangefinder patch bright and aligned. Bellows intact and light-tight. Body shows light wear consistent with age.
