Description
The Zeiss Ikon Super Ikonta 532/16 is a premium 6×6 medium format folding rangefinder, produced from 1937 to 1955 in Stuttgart, Germany. This model features a coupled rangefinder with a unified viewfinder window — a significant upgrade from its predecessor, the 530/16. It’s fitted with a Carl Zeiss Jena Tessar 8cm f/2.8 lens, renowned for its sharpness and classic rendering. Early versions typically feature uncoated optics, while post-war models may include coated glass and Synchro-Compur shutters.
The camera’s automatic film spacing mechanism yields 11 exposures per roll of 120 film, avoiding frame overlap — a clever engineering solution for its time. With its robust metal construction and elegant leatherette finish, the 532/16 remains one of the most desirable folding cameras of the pre- and post-war era.
Condition
Very good vintage condition. Bellows light-tight and supple. Lens optics clean — no haze, fungus, or scratches. Shutter fires across all speeds. Rangefinder aligned and clear. Folding mechanism smooth and secure. Cosmetic wear consistent with age.
